- Mixed fortunes
The club had mixed fortunes over the weekend with an agonising loss for the homegrown juniors and a big win for the seniors .
Junior semi final
St Kiernans 0-10
Wandsworth Gaels 1-08
The juniors lost out narrowly to a physical Wandsworth Gaels team on Sunday at McGovern Park and go out with their heads held high having fought back from 1-03 to 0-0 to just get pipped by the minimum ,a slow start gave Wandsworth all the impetus and it looked bad when they raced in to an early lead with our lads guilty of slack marking and poor choices up front , a controversial red card awarded to the Wandsworth full forward for a challenge on Sean McGoldrick turned the game round though and scores from Mike Donoghue and Chris Griffin gave us something to build on for the second half with 5 points between the sides , we pushed hard in the second half and dominated the ball with scores from Dowling , Joyce (2) & Doyle with a few sublime scores had us within touching distance , time and again though Wandsworth were able to wind down the clock with injuries and harsh calls and when Paddy Ryan pointed with two minutes left we thought we might just snatch this , however when we were adjudged to have taken too long over a free handing possession back to Wandsworth they were able to close the game out and the final whistle sounded to great relief for the Gaels, a case of so close for our lads who can hold their heads high , well done to the squad and management as not many had given us a chance outside of our camp .
scorers -C Doyle 0-3 -M Joyce and M O Donoghue 0-2 each -Paddy Ryan, Chris Griffin and Barry Dowling 0-1 each .
Senior championship Round 1
St Kiernans 2-16
Kingdom 0-03
A facile victory for the seniors avenging last years defeat to the same opposition at Mcgovern Park on Friday night last , a half time lead of 0-10 to 0-0 was added to by second half majors from James Moran and Dylan o Sullivan but in truth the players and management will have learned little from the game as the opposition scored twice from play with their first score coming in the 43rd minute at which time we were 14 clear , defensively we were excellent again and credit to the players for driving on when the result was known very early on , we now play Round Towers (03rd September) who had a strong win over Thomas Mcuratins in the other group game last weekend .All round a very satisfactory result with lots to work on over the next two weeks .

The reserves are two from two in their championship group having a big win against Thomas McCurtains on Monday last by 6-10 to 1-11 , one game to go against St Josephs to close the group out , Man of the match Barry Shanahan chipping in with 3-2 and this team will hopefully try and go one better than last year when pipped in the final .
