A busy weekend with all 3 sides in action in their championship groups .First up was the seniors who had a tricky opening round tie against recent Intermediate championship winners St Brendan's at Barnet Lane , it was a tough game but one where an early lead was never relented and we ran out deserving 1-13 to 0-08 winners at the final whistle . Despite the score line the opposition made it a difficult day with dogged defending and we will be happy to have got the points on the board with a lot of improvement to come .Good to see James Moran getting 20 minutes under his belt for the first time since the 2020 semi final too .
Scorers -Chris Farley 1-03 ..Marcus Mangan, Tom Waters and Brian Rutledge 0-02 each …Paudie o Shea , Eoin Walsh , Scratch and Kenny o Connor 0-1 each
In Greenford our homegrown juniors put in a dogged display to get the better of Tara's on a score line of 1-08 to 0-07 , this result sees them top their group and advance to the semi finals to play Wandsworth Gaels ,Best on the day were Ciaran Healy , Rhys Lennon and Matthew Joyce .More to come from this crop and they are serious contenders for the Junior title in their Third year after formation .
Scorers -
Michael English 1-0 ..Tommy Moriarty 0-04...Caolan Doyle 0-02...Matthew Joyce and Rhys Lennon 0-01 each .
On Sunday our reserves were unable to keep the winning run going when being defeated by a strong St Josephs side in Barnet by 2-13 to 0-08, without a number of regular starters it was always going to be difficult against the up and coming St Josephs side but the second half performance will give some hope that the final game against Round Towers will be very close and we can still progress to semi final .
Best on the day were Coailte Healy, Brendan Prior and Martin Hessian
