Senior Championship Semi Final 2020

Fulham Irish 3-13

St Kiernans 1-12

A disappointing end to the 2020 competitions which were incomplete from last year when we bowed out to a dogged Fulham side after extra time in Greenford , though we played with an extra man for a large period of the game with Fulham losing a defender to 2 yellow cards we were unable to build up a sizeable lead thanks mainly to the superb place kicking of Fulham's Liam Staunton , time and time gain he was able to capitalize on the smallest error with unerring accuracy meaning we only went in a point up at half time despite playing with the elements , our goal coming after a swift breakaway finished well by Paudie o Shea , Fulham had earlier opened up a 4 point gap when Staunton reacted quickest to point blank save from Dan Mcdonagh to rifle home the opening goal , Eoin Walsh and Marcus Mangan very much to the fore in getting us back on top in that first half and this after we lost James Moran to a hamstring injury and Senan o Grady to a black card before half time .

The second half was cagey a affair with us opening a 2 point gap with scores from O'Shea , Grady and Mangan but again a 45 and long distance free from Staunton levelled the game , some chances went begging with the final pass going astray but a late score from Tom Waters was immediately cancelled out by Anton Mcardle to finish the scoring with both teams tied at 1-10 a piece , there was just enough time for referee Mattie Maher to show red to defender David Carrabine for an off the ball incident and both sides broke for extra time .

Fulham came out the stronger and sharper and added 1-01 without reply , a long ball leading to an extra man and Hughes made no mistake from close range , Staunton added another soft looking free to leave 4 between the sides at half time .We re grouped and got 1 back from Senan o Grady straight from the throw in but another long ball caught us out 2v1 and Murphy had a simple task of tapping in to an empty goal to kill the tie , we rallied to the end and Brian Rutledge was unlucky when his goal bound effort was tipped over but alas it was too late and Fulham go through to the final against Tir Conaill Gaels , we lick our wounds and go again for 2021 ,hard luck to all our boys who almost done the job in normal time and credit to all management and players for performing so well with such little lead in time .2021 championship will come round quickly and there is a few championships in this group for sure .
